A Yonkers woman killed in a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike had come to the U.S. in search of a better life, her sister said.
Vanessa Diaz Pichardo, 37, died after her Hyundai left the road and overturned before slamming into a tractor-trailer in Fort Lee just after 2 a.m. Monday, July 28, New Jersey State Police said.

ORIGINAL STORY, July 28:
Police are asking for the public’s help finding a 64-year-old Bergen County widow who hasn’t been seen in three weeks.
Velvet Poveromo, who lost her husband, Charlie, in 2018, was last seen at her home in the Teaneck area, according to the Paramus Police Department. Her daughter was the last person to contact her, police said.
Poveromo has not been heard from or seen since.
